Large food warehouse acquired in Corby

TDB Real Estate have acquired the former Corby Chilled Distribution warehouse situated on Eismann Way, Phoenix Parkway, Corby, on behalf of Oakland International Limited.

The unit comprises approximately 58,000 sq ft and was purpose built in the late 1980’s for Eismann (they named the road after them) and more recently has been occupied by Corby Chilled Distribution and Stobarts.

The building was in poor condition, having been badly damaged by intruders, and the challenge has been to agree a deal with the current Landlord, on a leasehold basis, whilst dealing with all of the refurbishment work in the quickest possible timescale, in time for the Christmas demand.

Oakland International are a Redditch based company with facilities in the UK and Ireland, who needed additional chilled storage capacity.

TDB Real Estate identified the Eismann Way site and negotiated a new lease with the present Landlord to include a substantial rent free period and a comprehensive refurbishment programme.

Oakland were unable to expand on their present site in Redditch and Northamptonshire ticked many boxes for their further expansion. The fact the Eismann Way opportunity had the essential specification required for a food storage facility, was an added bonus.

Oakland will be looking to employ in the region of 120 staff on site within the next 3 years.
